Genetic Circuit Challenge at UCL
Congratulations to StJohn Townsend, winner of the 2012 Genetic Circuit Challenge and runners-up Thomas Johnson and Alexander Bates. Prizes were sponsored by UCL Engineering.
Check out their winning proposals here:
- First Prize: A synthetic biology based cure for primary erythromelalgia (StJohn Townsend)
- Second Prize: Carbon Monoxide Detection (Thomas Johnson)
- Third Prize: Bio Dispenser (Alexander Bates)
The Synthetic Biology Society is inviting all students to participate in a new competition that explores novel possibilities in synthetic biology. The competition requires participants to submit a design using existing genetic parts or invent new genetic parts to find new applications for synthetic biology to make an impact in the world.
The judges will be looking at the feasibility, novelty, the problem addressed, its impact and elegance of the solution.
